With over 13 years of experience in retailing, product design and development, and manufacturing, founder and designer Elizabeth Falkner was ready to create her own business venture. After having two sweet babies of her own to dress as well as shopping for countless baby showers of stylish friends and family members, Elizabeth decided that the market needed better options for truly special baby gifts. She knew there must be shoppers like her that did not want to give baby clothes that had boring, clichéd motifs like trains and ducks. In addition, she felt that beautiful gift packaging made an important impact on her own gift buying decisions and developed this element in a way that satisfied her standards for both aesthetics and environmental consciousness. Thus, the concept for Mariposa Baby was born.

Mariposa Baby features clothing and blankets that have simple, sophisticated looks with a focus on unique trims. Each item comes in a gift box that was made from 100% recycled materials and features a screen-printed butterfly on the top. These boxes were handmade by artisans in India that were certified by the Fair Trade Federation.
